Giggle Doctor Ward visits
This service started in 1996 and was on hold during the Covid pandemic. It resumed post-pandemic in April 2023. In 2023, we are active in 6 hospitals and have visited a total of 4508 children.
Specialist Outpatient Clinic support
The SOPC is a very busy clinic where discharged patients come back regularly for follow ups. Most of the time, due to heavy traffic, children and parents have to wait a long time before seeing a doctor which sometimes leads to frustration and anxiety. The HKCH has approached Foundation Theodora to provide the presence of a Giggle Doctor in the waiting areas to help them create a more enjoyable atmosphere during these long waiting times.
This service was launched in April 2023 and we have served 2396 children in 2023.
Surgical Accompaniment Program (SAP)
The SAP consists of offering the presence of Giggle Doctor for the child, his family, and the nursing staff, during the entire operating process that follows the child who undergoes a surgical intervention, a treatment, or an investigation requiring anesthesia and a stay in the operating room.  The Giggle doctor accompanies the child from the ward to the surgical ward and even inside the operating theater. This program started in 2010 in Spain, then was introduced in 2015 in Switzerland, and now in 2023 in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (started in July 2023) and the Queen Mary Hospital (started in November 2023).
Giggle Doctor Wonderful World (Video Channel)
During the pandemic, the Giggle Doctors of Foundation Theodora have developed a series of videos featuring the Giggle Doctors and many guests, games, magic, music etc…These episodes were broadcasted in all the hospitals we are visiting and they are now available to watch on our youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@giggledoctor). There are over 300 episodes (15-30 minutes each), enjoy!
